Im on a m1 Mac book air right now and its the best computer I ever had and the fastest/powerful computer I ever had. and the new m1 Macs are are crazy powerful. I wasn't doing nothing crazy I wouldn't do on a 2009 baseline Mac mini and its struggled with anything audio related for me. they suck, I couldn't avoid a cpu overload for the life of me. I use a Microsoft miniature wireless mouse. You can plug your audio interface, a SSD, a mini keyboard, and perhaps an iLok or CodeMeter dongle into that. There's only one port on it, so you'll need a USB 3.0 expansion hub with its own power. Practical stuff: Internal SSD space is limited, so I never keep anything on the internal drive that I'm not actively working on. (A Grace stereo bar gets stowed with my clothing there's almost always a mic stand I can borrow on arrival.) For what I do, a MixPre3 II with the Musician's plug in would work equally well, but then I'd have to read Gearspace on my phone! My Surface Go, interface, and a pair of Sennheiser MKH 40 mics make it through airport security with barely more than a second glance of the Xray screen. I never run a lot of tracks, but it's fine for doing stereo recordings while on vacation, or doing the odd overdub session at a remote location. I use it for audio work when traveling, running Samplitude ProX 4 with a Sound Devices USBPre 2 interface. I'm typing this on an original Surface Go with Pentium processor.
